These efforts evolved an Indian substitute for the Kindergarten and Montessori system, which is being used all across the country. She was the leading light to empower the student and teacher community and establish lasting ties between countries/schools such as Singapore-Raffles, Germany – Waldorf group of schools and others in Australia, UK and USA. With over 36 years of experience in education, Neena Kaul’s journey as an educator and school leader has been shaped by reflection, purpose, and an enduring commitment to meaningful learning. Entering school leadership at the age of 24, she has had the rare opportunity to contribute to the founding and growth of several progressive institutions—each reinforcing her belief that education must nurture not only academic competence, but conscious, compassionate human beings.
For more than 23 years, Neena Kaul served as the Founding Principal of The Heritage School, where she worked closely with leadership teams and faculty to shape the school’s vision, culture, and educational direction from inception. At a time when schooling in India largely followed traditional models, the school explored approaches that viewed education as a transformative life experience rather than an exercise in compliance. Grounded in values rooted in ethics, responsibility, and interconnectedness, the school evolved a culture where pedagogy, purpose, and people were meaningfully aligned.
Her leadership philosophy has consistently been guided by a clear conviction: schools must raise consciousness, not just scores. During her tenure, The Heritage School came to be widely recognised for its focus on experiential and child-centred learning. In collaboration with educators and leadership teams, systems related to curriculum, assessment, and teacher development were thoughtfully designed to reflect philosophical clarity, academic rigour, and deep respect for the learner while maintaining strong academic outcomes.
In her current role as Director/Principal of Gyanshree School, Neena Kaul draws upon decades of professional learning and leadership experience to serve a new school community. Her transition to Gyanshree represents not a departure from her life’s work, but a continuation and deepening of it, shaped by the school’s own vision, context, and aspirations.
At Gyanshree, her focus is on nurturing a values-aligned school culture that honours the uniqueness of every child, supports teachers as reflective practitioners, and ensures that systems and structures are thoughtfully aligned with shared educational purpose. While informed by past experience, her leadership at Gyanshree is intentionally responsive to the school’s distinct identity and evolving journey.
With a sustained commitment to whole-child development, instructional innovation, and adult learning, she continues to work collaboratively with the school community on curriculum design, pedagogical and assessment practices, strategic planning, and the creation of connected, reflective learning environments.
At the heart of Neena Kaul’s leadership lies a deep respect for children, educators, and the transformative potential of education. Guided by clarity of purpose and quiet conviction, she remains committed to building learning communities that are thoughtful, humane, and future-ready.
