Dr. Uma Tuli

Padma Shri Dr. Tuli is an educationist, social worker, rehabilitation professional and sportswoman. She was the first non-bureaucrat appointed by the Government of India as Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities. The many national and international honours she has been awarded with include Padma Shri for Social Work, Manav Seva Award, The Helen Keller Award, and Jhunjhunwala Award, President's Gold Medal for distinctive services in Home Guards. She is the Chairperson of Education Commission, Rehabilitation International, USA and also a Member of Advisory Board Voice and Vision, National Resource and Training Center for Children with Visual and Multiple Disabilities, and National Human Rights Commission.
